Pentecost is when the new covenant becomes personal.

Acts 2:1-4
1When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
2Suddenly a sound like a mighty rushing wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3They saw tongues like flames of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
4And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

Reflection
On Pentecost the promise of Jeremiah 31 becomes a Tuesday morning event. The Spirit fills ordinary people who had no special standing. From that day on, Christianity is not just news about Jesus; it is the indwelling of Jesus' Spirit in his people. You are not asked to live the Christian life on your own steam. The same Spirit who came in fire is the Spirit Christ has given to those who trust him. The 'I can't' you have been carrying is not the last word; the 'he will' of the Spirit is.
