What about other religions — are they all wrong?

Most religions actually agree on a lot — that we are not what we should be, that something has gone wrong, that we need help from outside ourselves. The disagreement is sharper than people think: every other major religion says here is what you must do to climb up. Christianity says God came down.

Saying Jesus is the only way isn't arrogance, it's what he said. If he is who he claimed to be, every other path leads somewhere shy of him. If he isn't, you should walk away from Christianity entirely. The question isn't whether Christians are nice; it's whether Jesus told the truth about himself.

Comparative religion as a discipline shows real overlaps in ethics across traditions — love of neighbour, generosity, honesty — and real differences in the diagnosis (what's wrong) and the prescription (how to fix it). Buddhism removes the self; Islam submits to law; Hinduism reincarnates the self; Christianity says the self is loved enough that God dies for it.

C.S. Lewis (Mere Christianity) called this the 'lunatic, liar, or Lord' trilemma: a Jewish carpenter who forgives sins and accepts worship is making a claim no other religious founder makes. If false, it's a category error. If true, it is exclusive on its own terms — not because we want it to be.
