5Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
6in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Reflection
Two commands and a promise. Trust the Lord with all your heart; do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him. The promise: he will make your paths straight. Notice it does not say 'he will make your paths obvious.' It says straight — that is, fitting, fruitful, the path he actually intends. Most of us want a map. God offers a relationship. Bring the decision to him by name, take counsel from his Word and wise people, then walk forward trusting that he is in fact directing your steps.

John Calvin taught providence not as a riddle to decode but as a comfort to lean into — that the God who governs everything is the same Father who orders the smallest decision of his children's lives.
