In everything give thanks
Paul does not say 'for everything.' He says 'in everything.'

Reflection
Notice the preposition. Paul does not tell you to thank God for cancer or for cruelty. He tells you to thank him in the middle of every circumstance, because there is always some mercy you can name even in the dark. Gratitude is not denial. It is the discipline of seeing the parts of God's faithfulness you would miss if you only stared at the wound. This is hard practice. Most days it starts with one specific thing: today's food, today's breath, today's friend who texted, today's verse that wouldn't let you go.
